Airfares Will Be Dropping In Fall – How To Take Advantage

Airfares Will Be Dropping In Fall

Fall is just around the corner, and it’s still a fantastic time to travel, as airfares are expected to drop by up to 40% until mid-November and the start of the winter vacations. So how can you benefit from such cheap flights?

Anton Radchenko, CEO of AirAdvisor, gives you four recommendations on how to make autumn a fantastic time to fly.

Book right now – Everything is going like clockwork for the airlines. Airfares spike just before peak travel times like summer and especially before the much shorter winter season between Thanksgiving and New Year’s. So make your fall travel reservations today. “Right now is the best time to travel if you are looking to save some money,” Radchenko said. “However, buying a ticket three to five months before your trip is the best timeframe for the lowest costs as well. So even if you are looking to travel over the holidays, right now may be your best bet for the cheapest flight.”

Travel abroad – Most of the year there are peak travel times when it is more expensive to fly to Europe or another international destination. But not in the fall. At this time, not only are airfares lower, but so is the cost of lodging, Radchenko said. With fewer travelers in September and October, you can discover cheaper hotel rates in addition to flights.

Consider taking a long weekend. Radchenko points out that a trip that would require a 10-hour drive can often be accomplished with a 2-hour flight. The opportunity to “extend your summer fun before the cold weather and holiday rush sets in.” is fantastic now that prices are dropping.

Change your current flight – This is a common occurrence. When you buy a flight, the cost will be reduced later. According to Radchenko, there are methods to lower the cost of a trip you have already planned. Check with your airline, as many have eliminated change and cancelation fees. Call your airline directly if you notice a significant discrepancy between the price you paid and the current cost for the same flight. Check the current airline’s cancelation policy before booking the new flight if the cheaper flight is on another airline.
