Amtrak has announced a USA Rail Pass discount, selling the pass for a mere $399. Its standard price is $499.
Passholders can use it for up to 10 rides between over 500 locations. Travelers will spend under $40 for each trip segment.
After purchase, the pass will last for 120 days. However, it will only stay valid for 30 days after its first use.
Interested travelers need to snap up the pass before the deal ends March 30.
The discount makes it relatively inexpensive to explore the continental United States. If someone purchases Amtrak tickets one at a time, certain trip segments could cost over $100 in just one direction.
However, there are some terms and conditions.
If someone wants to use the pass to travel between just two cities, they’re out of luck: Passholders can only take two round trips. This deal is for explorers who want to visit numerous destinations.
Only certain services are eligible. Excluded services include Acela, Auto Train, and a few others that you can find on Amtrak’s website.
The pass only allows travelers to ride in Coach Class. Fortunately, even Coach Class includes reclining seats and lots of legroom.
Amtrak counts connections as separate segments. Passengers who don’t check the rules might be surprised to learn that a one-way trip with a connection actually counts as two.
Multiple travelers can’t use the same pass simultaneously; each individual must purchase their own.
The pass could be an excellent option for remote workers with wanderlust. It might also please travelers who wish to avoid the inconvenience of airports.
