Bahamas To Drop Testing Requirement For Vaccinated Travelers On June 19

Fully vaccinated visitors to the Bahamas will no longer have to provide proof of a COVID -19 test to enter the islands as of June 19.

Testing rules for unvaccinated travelers have also changed.

A negative COVID -19 Rapid Antigen or RT-PCR test conducted no more than three days prior to arrival in the Bahamas is sufficient for visitors 2 years of age and older.

Prior to June 19, unvaccinated travelers 12 years of age and older were required to undergo a RT-PCR test within 72 hours of departure.

However, because the rapid antigen test is faster, the new testing option may make it easier for travelers to test negative before arrival.

The Bahamas said earlier this week that it will eliminate the requirement for all travelers to apply for a Travel Health Visa on the same day.

The Bahamas’ entry criteria were last changed in March when it announced it would no longer require unvaccinated passengers to be tested upon arrival. Since then, the CDC has raised the risk level to Level 3: High as the number of COVID -19 cases has risen, although the U.S. State Department classifies the virus as a Level 2 threat.
