Best U.S. Airlines With The Least Amount Of Delays And Cancellations To Fly With In Fall

One of the most frustrating things that any traveler experiences is the cancelation of a flight, and FlightAware publishes cancelation information to help inform flyers.

Noteworthy is that Cape Air (3.4%), Allegiant Air (3.2%) and Frontier Airlines (3.1%) set the high delay pace for United States-based airlines with at least 3,000 flights last month.

Two of those are low-cost carriers while Cape Air is a regional airline.

Meanwhile, the ones setting the opposite pace amongst this group of airlines, the ones with the lowest percentage of canceled flights, were Piedmont Airlines (0.0%), Horizon Air (0.1%), Hawaiian Airlines (0.1%), Sun Country Airlines (0.2%), SkyWest Airlines (0.3%), CommutAir (0.3%) and Sun Air Express (0.4%).

Also experiencing fewer than 1% cancelations were Alaska Airlines (0.7%), Delta Air Lines (0.8%) and Envoy Air (0.9%).

FlightAware also regularly publishes numbers related to delays. The airline with the highest percentage of delayed arrivals amongst those listed with at least 3,000 scheduled flights from Sept. 1-29 was JetBlue (29.0%). The one with the lowest percentage was Sun Country Airlines (4.5%).

With all of that said, it should be noted that Hurricane Ian is responsible for a significant percentage of the canceled and delayed flights so far this month. FlightAware has stated that 4,242 flights were canceled from Sept. 28-29 as compared to the 4,489 flights that had been canceled the first 27 days of the month.

Also, several of the mentioned airlines are regional in nature, which either helped or hurt their numbers.
