British Airways recently launched direct flights to 4 U.S. cities, just in time for summertime 2022.
With these new routes, the company now offers a total of 26 direct flight itineraries from the United States to London Heathrow.
“British Airways has always had a fond connection with the USA; so, it’s an honor to offer our customers more direct connections to new cities,” said British Airways’ Director of Networks and Alliances, Niel Chernoff.

The new Portland – Oregon route opened on June 3. It will operate on Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Fridays and Sundays and depart at 6:55 p.m.
- Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, reopened June 3 and will operate at 9:50 p.m. Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Fridays and Sundays. It is the only direct service from London to Pittsburgh.
- Newark, New Jersey, will receive a third daily flight beginning June 6. It will depart Newark Liberty International Airport at 7:55 a.m.
The additional route will benefit business travelers who “want to “spend an extra night in the New York Area before departing, or for those who wish to arrive just in time for an evening in London,”
- San Jose, California, will resume direct flights to London beginning June 13. Flights will operate daily and depart at 8 p.m.
The 22 existing British Airways routes (including Atlanta, Austin, Baltimore, Boston, Chicago, Denver, Washington Dulles, Houston, New York-JFK, Las Vegas, Los Angeles, Miami, Nashville, New Orleans, Orlando, Philadelphia, Phoenix, Pittsburgh, San Diego, Seattle, San Francisco and Tampa) will be joined by the new or renewed routes.
“This summer British Airways will be flying from 26 US cities to London and we’re very excited to be adding Portland to our list of transatlantic destinations. Not only are we the only airline to offer direct flights from Portland to London, but this new route also opens a wide variety of connections for our customers,” said Chernoff speaking about the new offering.
