British Airways Launching New Holiday Airline With Low-cost Fares from £39

On Friday, British Airways announced the launch of a new, low-cost air service that will serve popular European travel destinations. London Gatwick will host the airline, which will fly to 30 of Europe’s most popular destinations.

This new service will compete with some existing low-cost airlines currently dominating the intercontinental flights in Europe. Many airlines have experienced difficult finances, and the new service represents British Airways’ attempt to make itself more competitive.

The plans for the airline started over the summer. However, the company experienced some difficulty negotiating with the pilots’ union.

Now that British Airways signed a deal with the British Airline Pilots’ Association, the company will start to sell tickets for the service, which it calls BA Euroflyer. Eventually, Euroflyer will drop the BA portion of the moniker.

Flight schedules begin in March. Three Airbus aircraft will provide flight services.

Passengers will enjoy a large baggage allowance, free seating selections, frequent flyer benefits and complimentary snacks and bottles of water.

In March, BA Euroflyer will start service to Amsterdam, Tenerife, Nice and other destinations. In April, it will expand service to Madrid, Milan, Bordeaux and other destinations.

Tickets went on sale on December 14 for prices as low as £39 each way.

The last two weeks were turbulent for British Airways as they canceled over 2000 international flights due to low demand, travel bans, or restrictions. One of the most complicated cancelations is the service to Hong Kong. Quarantined pilots cannot leave Hong Kong due to new strict quarantines on the island.

British Airways resumed service this week to San Jose, Costa Rica.
