Dominican Republic Keeps Cracking Tourism Records In The Caribbean

The Dominican Republic broke records for tourist arrivals in 2023, with the highest number of stayover visitors and the highest number of visitors from the Caribbean in history.

The nation forecasts receiving more than 2.3 million tourists, in the first quarter of 2024

According to officials this week, the country welcomed over a million visitors by air and sea in January alone, the majority of whom were Americans.

Less sargassum than Cancun

The sargassum issue is primarily limited to east-facing Caribbean areas. It is an issue, and a hard one to predict.

West-facing areas such as the Bayahibe area of the Dominican Republic are much cleaner than Cancun

In Punta Cana, seaweed is extremely uncommon from November to May.

When is the best time to visit the Dominican Republic?

Due to its tropical climate all year round, the Dominican Republic is frequently referred to as a land of eternal summer. While you can expect sunshine most of the year, summer officially lasts from June to August.

For Carnival and summertime, December to March is ideal (27–30°C/80.6°F–86°F).

The best months for nature enthusiasts to explore dense forests are June through November (28–31°C/82.4°F–87.8°F). From May to September (28–32°C/82.4°F–89.6°F), travelers on a tight budget can save money without compromising experiences.

December through April are the best months to travel to the Dominican Republic because of the country’s sunny days and lack of rainfall.
