Kayak Reveals The Most Trending Asian Destinations For 2023

Now that Asia has slowly reopened for tourism, travelers are eager to discover the ancient wonders of the region. Recent demand has been so high that locations in Asia now account for seven of the top 10 trending destinations for 2023. 

In response to the health crisis, several Asian countries had very strict, even some outright banned, tourism restrictions. Although the region isn’t completely open to a pre-pandemic level, numerous Asian destinations are creating travel curiosity. 

Based on an increase of searches, the online travel agency Kayak has named Asia and the South Pacific as the ‘region of the year’. International travel is set to boom in 2023 as countries are lifting their anti-tourism measures. 

Ho Chi Minh City

Recent data from Kayak shows the top Asian destinations for 2023.

As the cultural capital of Vietnam, Ho Chi Minh is the most sought-after destination with 769% increase in clicks on Kayak searches. Tapei is drawing American visitors who are looking for a Western yet foreign Asian escape, with searches up 289%.

The city-state of Singapore has seen a search rise of 201% as travelers are yearning to revel in the high-tech and futuristic architecture. Hong Kong still has strict Covid monitoring but it still has seen a 190% uptick.

Bangkok continues to be the most popular destination for Americans in Southeast Asia with ancient temples and a bustling capital. Kayak searches for Bangkok are up 166% year over year. 

Tokyo’s searches are up 150% as numerous flights, along with soon-scheduled services from LAX to Tokyo, have been resumed. As the most liberal enclave in the Middle East, Tel Aviv is also a burgeoning foodie and cultural destination with searches up 134%.
