Castellers, the human towers

The tradition of building human towers in Catalonia dates back to the 18th century. It all began in the small town of Valls, roughly 40 km west of Barcelona. Here, the locals started constructing these impressive towers. Over time, different groups, known as “colles,” began to compete in these events, transforming it into a competitive sport as well as an art form.

Those who are into stand-up simply must see a show by Basemint when in Barcelona. They’re held every Sunday in Mint Bar, an underground bar in the heart of the city, and are 100% English-friendly. What’s more, the shows are also very pocket-friendly, especially if you book in advance.
