Norway Imposes Strict Entry Restrictions for All EU Travelers from November 22

International travelers to Norway will face new strict entry restrictions beginning Monday, November 22. All travelers, regardless of vaccination status, must register with health authorities upon their arrival.

This registration information allows authorities to conduct COVID-19 contact tracing.

The new rules apply to anyone age 16 and older. Norway offers an exemption for anyone with proof of recovery from COVID-19 infection in the past six months.

Travelers from the Canary Islands, Corsica, Madeira and areas of Finland and Sweden must quarantine and meet specific COVID-19 testing requirements upon entry. These restrictions apply to non-vaccinated travelers.

Non-vaccinated people traveling to Norway from France, Italy, Malta, Monaco, Portugal, San Marino, Spain and Vatican City also have to follow these rules. Travelers from Australia, Cyprus, Luxembourg, Poland, Romania and Switzerland will need to show a negative COVID-19 test upon arrival and quarantine for up to three days.

Norway’s public health services assess nations based on COVID-19 infection rates and assign them a color code. Any country with an orange, red, dark red or purple color must abide by the new stringent requirements.

According to the World Health Organization, five people died of COVID-19 in the past 24 hours in Norway. The country reported 620 new COVID-19 infections over the past day.
