Southwest Announces a 40% Off Base Fares for Late Summer and Autumn — but You’ll Have to Book Now

Southwest Announces a 40% Off Base Fares for Late Summer and Autumn

According to a press release, Southwest Airlines on Tuesday launched a three-day pricing promotion offering 40 percent off base fares for flights from late August through early November.

“We’re thrilled to offer our customers a substantial discount on our low fares for flights as soon as late summer and into the fall,” Bill Tierney, Southwest Airlines vice president of marketing and digital experience, said in a statement.

Tierney went on to say that the offer will make travel “more affordable and convenient” for customers.

To take advantage of the “qualifying base fares” passengers should book their tickets until Thursday at 11:59 p.m. central time.

On Southwest.com, travelers can use the code “FALL40” in the promo box. Travel must take place between August 16 and November 5 to enjoy the discounts, which apply before taxes and fees.

The airline’s current promotion is unusual in that it is valid for one-way or round-trip flights on a variety of ticket classes, including Wanna Get Away, Wanna Get Away Plus, Anytime, and Business Select fares.

While the promotion applies to both domestic and international flights, Southwest cautioned that “discount availability may vary by destination, flight, and day of the week, and won’t be available on some flights that operate during very busy travel times and holiday [periods].”
