Six outstanding Caribbean islands have been nominated in the “Best Caribbean Cruise Destination” category for this year’s World Cruise Awards.
Being shortlisted for a World Cruise Award provides participants with the possibility to further promote their services and products ahead of their competitors, say organizers.
The World Cruise Awards were created to celebrate excellence in the global cruise industry.
Being granted one of their awards means that a destination is dedicated to upholding the highest standards of service and hospitality.
“World Cruise Awards serves to recognize, reward and celebrate excellence in the global cruise sector through our annual awards program,” reads the official site.
This year, the islands fighting for the “Best Cruise Destination” award include Antigua, Barbados, the Cayman Islands, Jamaica, Bahamas and Turks and Caicos.
The contest will be open until October 6, 2024.
Travelers and industry leaders can cast their votes for their preferred destinations through the designated voting links.
The ceremony will take place on November 24 at the Savoy Palace in Madeira.
Modern cruise travel started back in the ’60s when Royal Caribbean, Carnival, and Norwegian began offering winter cruise tours to the Caribbean targeting American retirees.
Nowadays, the Caribbean has become a highly sought-after destination. Tourism has an estimated contribution of 14.8 percent of the region’s GDP.
Official data shows that this industry creates some 2.4 million jobs.
In 2022, the cruise industry worldwide generated $13.6 billion in revenue, with the U.S. as the major contributor in terms of paying passengers.
To continue helping destinations excel, the World Cruise Awards also recognize excellence in other areas, including the following:
The Caribbean’s Best Cruise Terminal
Ports competing in this category include Port of Spain (Trinidad and Tobago), Port of Willemstad (Curaçao), Port of Sint Maarten, Port of Out Islands (Bahamas), Port of Bridgetown (Barbados), Port of George Town (Cayman Islands), Port of Ocho Rios (Jamaica), Antigua Cruise Port, Grand Turk Cruise Center (Turks and Caicos Islands) and Nassau Cruise Port (Bahamas).
The Best Cruise Lines
Cruise lines recognized for delivering the best cruise travel experiences include Regent Seven Seas Cruises, Royal Caribbean International, Norwegian Cruise Line, Disney Cruise Line, Holland America Line, Carnival Cruise Line, Princess Cruises, Seabourn, and Silversea.
These prestigious nominations are a testament to the islands’ unwavering commitment to providing exceptional cruise experiences.
