These Are The 20 World’s Safest Destinations For Solo Female Travelers In 2023

Due to its political stability, low level of violence, and excellent health care, Switzerland is at the top of the list of safest destinations to visit.

A new Which? Travel Analysis, based on data from consulting firm STC, ranks countries around the world for risks of natural disasters, traffic fatalities, homicide rates, terrorism, health infrastructure, and women’s safety.

Nearly all of the top 10 travel destinations are in Europe, with the Nordic countries having a particularly strong presence.

Iceland comes in second, then Norway, Portugal, and Slovenia.

Although mid-table nations like Thailand, India, Sri Lanka, Jordan, and Tunisia have relatively low homicide rates, they score highly for road deaths, according to statistics, which suggest that reckless driving poses a greater risk than terrorism.

Non-European exceptions in the top 10 include New Zealand and Singapore.

The statistics use an index created by the Sole Female Travellers Club travel agency to determine which countries are safest for women traveling alone.

Based on information from her own study, as well as warnings from U.S. and British government agencies, it ranked Egypt as the least safe country for women to go on solo trips, while Iceland was the safest.

The United Kingdom landed in 24th place, just outside the top 20, with one of the lowest rates of traffic fatalities in the world at 2.9 deaths per 100,000 population. (Only Sweden is better). The homicide rate is comparatively low at 1.3 per 100,000, homicide rates are comparatively low, but below France, Spain and Italy.

Moreover, the UK outperforms the US in both categories when it comes to transatlantic relations: the US has a homicide rate of 5.3 per 100,000 people, while the road death rate is 10.6 per 100,000.

The findings are consistent with a report published in July 2022 by the Institute for Economics & Peace, which included Iceland, New Zealand, Ireland, Denmark, and Austria in its list of “most “peaceful” nations in the world.

The Global Peace Index (GPI) assigned a “peacefulness” score to 163 countries, noting the following: “In the past 14 years, peacefulness has fallen [overall], with the average country score deteriorating by 3.2 per cent.”

It added: “Europe remains the most peaceful region in the world. The region is home to four of the five most peaceful countries, and only one country in Europe is ranked outside the top half of the index.”
