“This summer, travelers are clearly ready to dust off their passports and embrace jet lag as they set off overseas,” said Melanie Fish, a spokesperson for Expedia Group.
Cities in Europe and other places in the Caribbean do not compare to Cancun in terms of popularity. Another seaside resort is Punta Cana, in the Dominican Republic, which ranks fifth, behind London, Paris and Rome.
The idea is that all of these places are comparatively close to the United States and serve as an international retreat.
