This Lesser-Known Island Named The No. 1 Beach Destination In The Caribbean

Once again, the stunning islands of Turks And Caicos have been voted the Caribbean’s Leading Beach Destination and the Caribbean’s Most Romantic Destination in the 2024 World Travel Awards.

Not a surprise. This British Overseas Territory has won the same categories for five and six years respectively.

“It is undeniable that the Turks and Caicos Islands is beautiful by nature with the best beaches in the Caribbean and I am very proud of this recognition once again,” said Minister of Tourism, the Hon. Josephine Connolly.

The politician seized the opportunity to invite international travelers to visit these islands and see for themselves why they receives so many awards.

“I would like to encourage those who have yet to experience the beauty of the Turks and Caicos Islands to visit and see why our multi-island destination earns these accolades consistently,” she concluded.

Many other tourism-related businesses in Turks and Caicos also received awards due to their outstanding quality. Those include multiple hotels and resorts, tour agencies and even a car rental company.

Turks and Caicos is not only beautiful but also profitable.

Over the first five months of 2024, this destination saw an unprecedented tourism growth led by American travelers.

During this period, air arrivals increased by 10.85% compared to the same timeframe in 2023. Only in March, the destination broke a record with 77,559 arrivals, a 15.57% increase over the same month last year.

“Our destination remains strong. We are seeing our airline arrivals increase over the next six months by over 65 percent and we are working very closely with our partners to ensure that the market remains strong,” said Alvin Hegner, chairman of Experience Turks and Caicos in May.

Cruise passengers have also decided to flock to this destination in 2024. In May, Turks and Caicos saw an increase of 73.74% compared to May 2023.

Last year, the destination welcomed over 1.5 million travelers.

According to Google Flights data, Turks and Caicos is the most searched destination for U.S.-based couples and family holidays.
