Air Canada Named Best International Airline at 2021 Travvy Awards

Air Canada Named As The Best International Airline of 2021 at Travvy Awards

Air Canada has taken the golden statuette for Best International Airline in 2021 at the seventh annual Travvy Awards celebration at the Miami Beach Convention Center in Florida on Friday.

The Travvy Awards, labeled as the Academy Awards of the travel industry, honor the world’s top travel suppliers, destinations, technology providers, and of course, the best airlines.

“The Travvy Awards recognizes the best of the best in the travel industry,” said TravelPulse Executive Editor Eric Bowman.

This year, Air Canada took home the highest honor of the night after being recognized as the best international airline worldwide.

Other airline companies awarded were Air New Zealand (Silver) and Korean Air (Bronze).

Canada’s flag carrier has proven to be committed to making travel easier in these difficult times for both the industry and the passengers.

The country started to reopen its borders on August 9 after the COVID-19 case count hit the highest point of the fourth wave of the pandemic in mid-June.

Since then, the airline hasn’t stopped exploring ways to make flying more efficient for passengers and the industry at large.

On Oct. 25 the airline introduced a new self-testing program in the hopes of making returning home a less stressful experience than it currently is.

Passengers can purchase self-administered COVID-19 kits and test themselves while abroad before boarding their flights back to Canada.

The self-tests are sold by the Canadian company Switch Health. It oversees the testing procedure using a telehealth platform and in less than 45 minutes passengers receive their digital reports.

Exceeding in customer service is only one of the aspects the airline has been devotedly working on.

On Nov. 10 the company signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) aiming to explore the potential of Carbon Engineering’s DAC-based solutions to support the aviation energy transition.

“At Air Canada, we are very focused on seeking innovative, long-term, sustainable emission reduction solutions as we work towards achieving our absolute midterm greenhouse gas net reduction targets by 2030 and our net zero greenhouse gas emissions goal by 2050,” said Amos Kazzaz, Executive Vice-President and Chief Financial Officer at Air Canada.
