Istanbul Airport Wins 3 Awards This Year As One Of The Best In Europe

On Tuesday, November 2, the Airports Council International Europe announced the winners of its annual awards. Istanbul Airport, just three years old, won two outstanding awards this year.

Instanbul Airport won the Accessible Airport award and the Best Airport Over 40 Million Passengers award. Last month, it won the Conde Nast Travelers’ award.

The Best Airport Over 40 Million Passengers ranks as the top award issued by the Airports Council International Europe. The judges described Istanbul Airport as offering efficient operations and top-quality service to passengers and partners.

The Accessible Airport award goes to the airport doing the best job at removing barriers for people with disabilities and mobility difficulties. A few of Istanbul Airport’s accessibility features include loud steps for use with mobility canes, accessible routes and sign language for airport communications.

Turkish Airlines, the largest carrier operating out of Istanbul Airport, recently reached a new pandemic record with 1,000 flights in one day.

Since the COVID-19 pandemic began in March 2020, airlines have struggled to fill flights. Turkish Airlines has instituted many new safety measures that have also boosted efficiency.

Passengers check in electronically, with no contact required. All flight crew members of Turkish Airlines are fully vaccinated against COVID-19.
