Travelers to Thailand will face numerous restrictions within the country even though they have dropped quarantine measures for 63 countries.
Due to rising cases of the Delta variant back in April, Thailand then closed its entertainment venues and instituted stricter local restrictions. Health officials in Thailand attributed the growth of COVID-19 cases to venues such as bars, pubs and nightclubs.
These venues were set to open but the government has extended the date until January 15, 2022 so they don’t experience another cluster like that of the Delta variant in Bangkok’s Thonglor nightlife district in March.
While restaurants were opened on November 1 in four different provinces: Bangkok, Krabi, Phuket and Phang Nai, the government will only permit alcohol sales in the ‘blue zones’, those being only Bangkok and Phuket. Tourists should also know that provinces have different curfews on alcohol sales.
The island is now open to a number of countries (including the United States, United Kingdom and Canada) for vaccinated travelers coming from low-risk countries. These travelers will only need to spend one night in quarantine in a government-approved hotel while waiting for their test results.
Those traveling from countries not on the approved list can enter through their sandbox scheme which includes quarantine in a government-approved hotel for seven nights while Unvaccinated tourists must quarantine in a government-approved hotel for ten days upon the arrival.
To enter Thailand, travelers bust get a travel pass which includes the below information:
- Passport
- Vaccination Certificate or Card
- COVID-19 Health Insurance Certificate
- Confirmed ASQ hotel booking or Confirmed SHA+ hotel booking (with pre-booked RT PCR test)
- Flight Booking
- Copy of Thai Visa (if required)
