Travelers entering Canada will still be obliged to follow strong COVID-19 protocols until June 30. Announced by the country’s public health agency on May 31, all visitors must be vaccinated to enter the country.
Furthermore, tourists who wish to enter the country must upload their proof of vaccination to the ArriveCan app, along with other travel documentation. This will be enforced until June 30 regardless of travelers points of entry.
If travelers wish to enter Canada all documentation must be uploaded to the ArriveCan app at least 72 hours ahead of travel or their website found here. Travelers who don’t submit pertinent travel information can be subject to fines up to $5,000.
As of April, fully vaccinated individuals no longer need to submit any pre-departure tests and this is the only step needed to enter the country.
Canadian officials consider individuals fully vaccinated if at least 14 days have passed after your final vaccine dose of nine accepted vaccine types.
Those who are unvaccinated or partially vaccinated remain barred from entering Canada until at least July.
Similar to other ports of entry around the world, travelers may be randomly selected for COVID-19 testing upon arrival. Canada has adopted this testing mechanism since February at select airports, including Vancouver International Airport (YVR), Montreal-Pierre Elliott Trudeau International Airport (YUL) and Toronto Pearson International Airport (YYZ).
