Hawaiian Airlines Unveils New Route Connecting To Honolulu From a U.S. Hub

Soon, you will be able to travel more comfortably from Salt Lake City to the beautiful islands of Hawaii, as Hawaiian Airlines will be launching a new flight next year.

The new route will open on May 15, 2024, and will be the first nonstop service from Salt Lake City to Honolulu for Hawaiian Airlines, according to Travel + Leisure. The new route will be operated daily with an Airbus A321neo with 189 seats.

“We know this new route will excite travelers in both Utah and Hawaiʻi given our tourism and education ties and shared Pacific Island communities,” Hawaiian Airlines President and CEO Peter Ingram said in a statement. “We are eager to strengthen these relationships when we launch our service next summer.”

Hawaiian Airlines plans to operate the new route in sixteen distinct gateway cities within the continental United States.

Every day at 6:50 p.m., the new flight will leave Honolulu and arrive in Salt Lake City at 5:15 a.m. Then, at 7 a.m., the return flight will take off from Salt Lake City and land back in Hawaii at 9:55 a.m.

Hawaiian Airlines will increase the number of flights it operates from Sacramento in addition to the new Utah route. On May 24, the Californian city will debut four new weekly flights to Lihu’e on the island of Kauai, and on May 25, it will open three new weekly flights to Kona.

In 2023, Hawaiian Airlines was named the best domestic airline by T+L readers, as it is known for its reliable service, friendly staff and excellent in-flight catering. The premium cabin in each Airbus A321neo has 16 recliner seats, complemented by 45 premium economy “Extra Comfort” seats and 128 economy seats.

Free island-style meals, such as lomi tomato and coconut cake with kalua chicken quesadillas, are also served to passengers.

The airline is now in the process of equipping its A321neos with high-speed Starlink internet, which will be provided to passengers at no cost when it becomes available in the early months of 2024.
