U.S. And Canada Airlines Adding Low-Cost Winter Flights To The Dominican Republic

The Dominican Republic, one of the Caribbean’s most popular tourism destinations, is expected to receive more visitors now that a pair of low-cost airlines have added flights to it from the United States and Canada. This is part of a larger influx of international flights expected in the coming months.

Frontier Airlines, one of the most popular U.S.-based low-cost airlines and one that already provides significant service to the Dominican Republic, will add itineraries from Tampa, Fla., to Santo Domingo and Punta Cana with an expected start date for both routes of Nov. 5. It is not yet known how frequently those routes will be run or if an end date will be implemented.

Many Canadians are looking forward to escaping their notorious winters with greater ease. This will be possible now that Swoop, a Canada-based low-cost airline, is adding flights from Hamilton, Ontario, to Punta Cana, a route that will be run every Wednesday from Jan. 11 to April 26.

Also of note is that Air Century, a Dominican Republic-based airline, will also be adding flights to the U.S., to Miami and Tampa in its case. Those routes will commence in November.

These flight additions are amongst expansive changes that are coming as the Dominican Republic increases its connections with places throughout the world.

Other examples include the addition of Condor flights from Dusseldorf, Germany, to La Romana from Nov. 4 to April 7 and Neos flights from Rome and Verona, Italy, to La Romana from Nov. 4 to March 25.
