Cancun authorities have removed all Covid-19 restrictions at seven of the city’s top beaches, said the Federal Maritime-Terrestrial Zone (Zofemat).
To begin with, the new schedule will see beaches open from 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.
Starting April 1, beachgoers will be able to fully enjoy the Langosta, Caracol, Punta Cancún, Gaviota Azul, Chac Mool, Marlín and Delfines beaches.
The state of Quintana Roo, home to Cancun, will also lift the need to wear a face mask by mid-April, as per Riviera Maya News.

The downward trend of Covid-19 infections and hospitalizations has persuaded officials to begin the process of removing the mask requirement in public settings, said Quintana Roo Governor Carlos Joaquin Gonzalez.
Unless the state observes an increase in coronavirus cases, Gonzalez added, the mask restriction might be “eliminated by mid-April.”
“It is important not to let our guard down,” he said. “Easter is coming and the return to face-to-face classes is now 100 percent, so it will be important to follow health measures.”
For the time being, visitors and locals will only be requested to main social distancing.
Mexico saw a nearly 20 percent increase in hotel occupancy between March 7th and 13th. According to the Federal Secretary of Tourism, Los Cabos and Puerto Vallarta were the most booked destinations compared to the same week in 2021.
Los Cabos saw a 33.7% gain, followed by Puerto Vallarta (30.4%), Cancn (28%), Villahermosa (18.2%), and Ciudad de México (17.1%).
It is worth noting that the two most sought-after destinations are both on the Pacific Coast, far from the threat of the arrival of large amounts of Sargassum.
The unwelcomed alga has already been spotted in the coastal areas of Tulum and Mahahual.
“We’re afraid Sargassum has started to appear on several Tulum beaches… The influx of tourists has already decreased a little,” said a worker at the Tulum national park.
