For the period from Sep. 2022 to Feb. 2023, a total of 9.2 million flight seats will be available to Cancun International Airport, 38% more than the same period in 2019, announced the head of the Quintana Roo Tourism Promotion Council (CPTQ by its Spanish acronym), Darío Flota Ocampo.

Miguel Torruco Marqués expressed pride in the government’s decision to allow foreign travelers to enter the country during the pandemic.
Torruco said: “The tourism sector at a national scale has returned strongly to face the upcoming years. Another aspect to highlight is that foreign direct investment generated from January to June 2022 raised to 2,779 million dollars, already surpassing 2019 records when the number was 1,295 million dollars. It represents a growth of 303.4% compared to the investments of 2021.”
Just a few days ago, Mexican authorities announced that certain nationals, including residents of the U.S. and Canada, can stay for up to 180 days and that they no longer have to fill out the “Forma Migratoria Multiple (FMM)” upon arrival in Cancun.
Local authorities expect that with this new update, waiting times for travelers will drop from an hour to a few minutes.
According to FlightConnections, there are currently 43 direct flights from the United States to Cancun. From major cities such as Miami, New York, Los Angeles, San Francisco, Atlanta, Boston, and Washington, all major airlines offer flights to Cancun.
To provide visitors with better mobility, more travel alternatives, and more fascinating attractions, officials in the Quintana Roo region are also working on major development projects such as the Tulum International Airport and the Maya Train Project.
In addition, the government has worked to ensure the safety of travelers by addressing all problems and dangers.
A few days ago, it was announced that undercover police officers would patrol the beaches of Tulum and other tourist areas to protect visitors. This summer, 300 army personnel were assigned to guard the beaches of Cancun.
