Reasons Why Los Cabos Is Taking Over The Travel Market In Mexico In 2024

Due to its proximity to the West Coast of the United States and the bountiful offerings (and great weather), Los Cabos is one of the most searched international destinations. From its outstanding natural beauty, sandy beaches, over 350 days of sunshine a year, wellness offerings, and a lively social scene, the area continues to rise in popularity.

It has been a popular destination for decades, but according to analysis between January and August 2023, it is one of the three destinations in Mexico with the highest international airflow.

The rise of international tourists visiting the area, has meant that Los Cabos which includes San José del Cabo and Cabo San Lucas only trails Cancun and Mexico City. It saw just under 4 million arrivals last year, half that of Cancun’s 8 million.

Transforming Luxury and Wellness: The Evolution of Los Cabos

An area that has transformed over the years has seen massive development projects with more than 10 hotels and resorts opening in 2023/2024

From luxury hotels like Waldorf Astoria Los Cabos Pedregal, Las Ventanas al Paraiso, A Rosewood Resort, and Nobu Los Cabos, there are also a plethora of all-inclusive resorts to choose from. Some of the top all-inclusive include Marquis Los Cabos, Hard Rock Hotel Los Cabos, and Le Blanc Spa Resort, which is an adults-only resort.

It has also risen to one of the top wellness-centered vacation locations with properties offering everything from spa packages, meditation and healthy eating classes, and more. Two of the top two hotels for holistic holidays in Casa Dorada and One Only Palmilla.

Nightlife, Restaurants, Beaches And Activities

The nightlife in Los Cabos has transformed into a popular destination as there is a mix of hip late-night clubs and live music venues. For those who like to go out and have fun, there are some very popular nightclubs in the downtown area to choose from.

Due to its location on the coast and surrounding environment, it offers one-of-a-kind activities, with deserts, mountains, and oceans all part of the scenery. From hiking and biking to horseback and camel riding to fishing and whale watching, there are several outdoor experiences to enjoy in Los Cabos.

Away from the tourist and commercial side of the location, the area still exudes charm with authentic restaurants and shops along with the magic town of Todos Santos just an hour drive away.

The incredible beaches between Cabo San Lucas and San Jose del Cabo are also a big draw as thanks to the nearly year-round sunshine, visitors can relax and gaze out at the waters.

Safety

Last but not least, travelers feel safe when visiting Los Cabos as there is a heightened police presence and security across the area.

The Los Cabos Police have intensified security measures in 2024 to enhance tourist safety. These efforts include reducing family violence and road accidents, with a notable decrease in house and vehicle thefts. The Directorate of Public Security is focusing on community involvement and educational initiatives to address these issues. Additionally, strategies are in place to combat small-scale drug trafficking. As of 2024, Los Cabos is considered a safe destination by the U.S. State Department, with a Level 2 travel advisory.
