Cancun Received Record Number Of Visitors In September

Over the past few months, travelers have finally had the opportunity to take their long-awaited vacations. In September, Cancun surpassed 1 million visitors, breaking a decades-long record.

Although September remains right in the middle of the low travel season, low airfare and good weather as well as expiring credits from past canceled trips motivated people to make the trip. People also felt overdue for vacations canceled by COVID-19.

So far in 2022, more than 22 million visitors have traveled to Cancun. Airlines offer 40 direct flights from the United States to Cancun.

Internationally, tourists pick from the available 7100 flights to Cancun from 101 cities out of 25 countries around the world. To keep up with the increase in international travelers, Cancun International Airport added more than 100 new staff members to assist in the areas of immigration, ticketing and customs.

In addition to the busy Cancun International Airport, Cozumel International Airport experienced an 85% increase in passenger traffic this summer compared to last summer. Mexico heavily depends on tourist dollars for its economy, and most officials and residents welcome the influx of travelers and their money.

Mexican officials and travel experts explain that the number of guests will continue rising. December marks the busiest month of the year for tourism in Cancun.

Travelers who want to avoid the rush could consider visiting Cozumel in November. They will avoid the heavy rains from the summer and the crowds that flock to the beaches and resorts later in the month of December.
