Chile To Relax Covid Entry Restrictions On September 1

Chile has made it easier for tourists to visit the South American destination as the country’s entry requirements have been eased.

In a change of policy, travelers are no longer required to complete the country’s “Travel Affidavit” form or get a Mobility Pass.

Along with getting rid of this requirement, the government has changed policies on COVID testing and vaccination for travelers. Fully vaccinated travelers now only have to show proof of vaccination and do not need to present a negative PCT test upon entry to the country.

However, within 48 hours of departure to Chile, unvaccinated travelers must provide a negative result from a PCR test. And in terms of children under the age of 18, they are not subject to any of the requirements above.

The use of the Mobility Pass to track tourists as well as provide entry to public venues such as hotels, transportation and theaters, has been ended. Travelers’ negative PCR test or proof of vaccination will now allow them entry to these public spaces.

All of these changes to the COVID entry requirements come as the Chilean Ministry of Health downgraded the country’s Protected Borders Plan to Alert Level 1, the lowest level.

Furthermore, just earlier this month, Rapa Nui (also known as Easter Island), reopened to travelers after nearly three years of being closed to tourism.
