Norse Airways To Launch Budget Flights Between NYC And Paris

Budget-friendly Norse Atlantic Airways announced on Tuesday that it will begin operating flights in March between Paris Charles De Gaulle Airport (CDG) and New York John F. Kennedy Airport (JFK).

Less than two weeks prior, New York-based JetBlue also announced plans to fly between New York and Paris, introducing fresh competition into a market that is mostly controlled by the joint venture between Delta and Air France-KLM.

Norse said it plans to operate daily service starting on March 26, 2023. Eastbound flights will depart JFK at 12:30 a.m. and arrive in Paris at 2:05 p.m., all times local. Westbound flights depart at 7:45 p.m., arriving at 10 p.m.

The Norse business significantly draws inspiration from Norwegian Air, an ultra-low-cost transatlantic airline that rose to prominence in the transatlantic market quickly before encountering financial difficulties and subsequently refocusing on short-haul European travel during the pandemic.

Norse utilizes Boeing 787 Dreamliners that have a premium economy and ordinary coach cabin, similar to what Norwegian did. Flights between New York and Oslo, Norway, served as its inaugural route in June (OSL). The airline also operates flights from Oslo to Fort Lauderdale, Los Angeles, and Berlin, and from JFK to London Gatwick and Berlin (BER).

According to the airline, prices on the JFK-Paris route will start at 219 euros ($226 USD) each way.

Since Norse utilizes many of the same planes that Norwegian previously used, anyone who has been on Norwegian before should feel comfortable.
