Research Reveals No. 1 Safest U.S. State For Solo Female Travelers In 2023

The Green Mountain State of Vermont has recently been rated safest for female travelers according to a report conducted by TrustedHousesitters.

Their 2023 Solo Female Traveler Report unveiled the top 10 states best for women traveling on their own and the small state of Vermont took the No. 1 spot. Coming in second is Pennsylvania, Delaware in third, with Rhode Island and Maryland rounding out the top five.

Taking into account several factors, the most important and determining factor that led Vermont to be on top of the list is safety. Traveling solo is daunting and the ability to explore the beauty of the state, known for its scenic rolling mountains and quality skiing during the winter, propelled Vermont to the top spot.

Data gathered for the safety of traveling in Vermont was taken from the Georgetown Institute for Women, Peace and Security and the Federal Bureau of Investigation’s Uniform Crime Reporting Program.

Other factors that helped determine rankings included the state’s internet speed and data from the U.S. Federal Communications Commission shows that Vermont ranks also on top, having access to 100Mbps or faster broadband.

Along with safety and fast internet speed, Vermont is perfect for a relaxing and recharging vacation. From viewing the beautiful colorful fall foliage to a number of outdoor adventures, female travelers are connecting with the northeastern state.

This news adds to statistics from Kayak showing that searches for single-person flights increased 36 percent in 2023 compared to 2022.
