This Major U.S. Airline Plans Another Expansion To Dominican Republic

Fans of American Airlines will soon find reaching top tourist destinations across the Dominican Republic to be easier than ever. The major U.S. airline recently announced the latest in its series of additional flights to the Dominican Republic, which will include several new flight options out of Charlotte and Miami.

Residents of the Charlotte, North Carolina area will have several more options to choose from when booking flights to the Dominican Republic this winter. American Airlines will begin offering daily service to Puerto Plata during the colder travel months, as well as increasing its flights to Punta Cana to four per day.

The Punta Cana area is already one of the Dominican Republic’s top tourist destinations, and it will likely see even higher record-breaking numbers this winter in light of the new flight options that American Airlines and other carriers are set to offer.

American Airlines will also be doubling its nonstop service between Miami and Santiago by offering two nonstop options per day instead of the current one nonstop flight.

American Airlines Adds New Direct Flights To Ireland

Jose Freig, American Airlines’ Vice President of Operations and Commercial for Mexico, the Caribbean and Latin America, shared insights into the airline’s vision for adding options for tourists looking to escape the colder weather during the winter months. Frieg commented that, “We are proud to strengthen our lead as the largest U.S. airline in the region, with more flights and seats to more destinations than any other single carrier or partnership.”

While several major airlines have already launched additional flights to the Dominican Republic and other major Caribbean cities, upcoming changes that are expected to go into effect this winter are expected to increase the area’s visitors to a record-breaking approximately eight million by the end of the winter tourist season. The Dominican Republic has experienced a strong recovery from pandemic-era travel decreases, with several records set so far in 2023.
